The Gay and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya (GALCK) has organised a fun day for all members in its community to celebrate diversity.
GALCK offers a safe and enabling environment for Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex [LGBTI] organisations and individuals in Kenya.
Under the mission to promote recognition, acceptance and defends the interests and rights of LGBTI organisations and their members, the coalition endeavour to engage the community at different levels.
The event that is meant to bring together community to interact, share, have fun gets underway this Sunday, 21st August, 2011 in the outskirts of Nairobi.
“We invite you and your friends to join us and have great fun” Said Ben Maina, GALCK Communications Officer. Lots of games ranging from; sack running, needle and thread games, kati, egg and spoon running, dancing competition, skipping rope, hide and seek, football and many other games. According to Mr Maina GALCK will provide transport from Bata shop, Hilton Hotel at 9am. Lunch and entry fee to the venue will also be catered for.
“The event is part of our strategy to provide social spaces for the community outside bars” Maina said. This is in a series of events to be organised throughout the country. Earlier this year, GALCK hosted a similar event at the Village Market in Nairobi.
